PENNE Castle standing on edge of rocky peak overlooking Aveyron river; picturesque village where souls of troubadours still wander. Shown at left.

BRUNIQUEL Dominates the Aveyron and Vere; old (13th C) and new (15th-16th C); Payrol House. 


  FORET DE LA GRESIGNE Extends over 8900 acres and rising almost 500 meters, the land has been inhabited since the time of the Gauls; remains of glass making ovens (15th -16th C); sessile oak is the oldest fuel and outnumbers the beech, hornbeam and coniferous trees. Wildlife includes stags, deer, and wild boar.
